LaLiga stars REJECT Spanish FA’s plan to stage Barcelona match in the US

The captains from each side in Laliga have come together to reject a proposal that this season Barcelona is being taken to the United States against Villareal.

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) plan to take the collision was accepted earlier this month and is now waiting for UEFA and FIFA approval.

If they get the passages, the Barcelona stars from Hansi Flick will travel to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium to play an away game against Villareal.

But the AFE (Spanish players' association) has now returned to the proposal after a meeting on Thursday with the captains of all 20 Laliga clubs.

Every single skipper, including Dani Carvajal from Real Madrid and Marc-Andre ter Stegen in Barcelona, opposed the idea with 'the lack of dialogue and information provided' by the RFEF.

A statement issued by the AFE was: 'Supported by the captains of the LaLiga clubs, AFE opposes playing a league match outside of Spain.

'The captains of each team met on Thursday to discuss the request, as announced by the Spanish football federation [RFEF] Earlier in August, to play a match outside the country, which was presented to UEFA and FIFA.

'AFE asked for a detailed report from the competition to inform the players of the situation and to hear their opinion. In her response, the competition only informed us of the progress of the authorization process.

“In view of this situation, given the lack of dialogue and information that is provided, the initiation of a project was promoted by La Liga and approved without any information by the RFEF disrespectful for the players, because it changes on changes at a sporting level in addition to traveling outside the country as employees within the framework of a domestic competition.”

Villareal is currently planned for Barcelona on December 21, but according to athletics, the fixture must be moved possible to fit into the NFL calendar. The Miami dolphins are planned to play Miami Dolphins on the same day at the hard rock stage.

However, the round of 32 of the Spanish cup is expected to take place between December 16 and December 18, which complicates things.

Laliga also tried to organize a Barcelona match abroad in 2018, this time with Girona the opponents in the proposal, as well as a league match between Atletico Madrid and Villarreal the following year.

However, the requests were both opposed to opposition to both the RFEF and FIFA.

It is understanding that the relationship between RFEF and Laliga has improved since those first proposals, and now the Spanish top flight has taken an important step in the direction of organizing a fixture abroad.

Although FIFA has shown opposition against the idea so far, the possibility of organizing domestic competitions abroad has been given an important boost.

US Events Promoter Relevant, founded by founder of Miami Dolphins Stephen Ross, has dropped the administrative body of world football of their historical lawsuit.

The case, published in 2018, accused FIFA and the US Soccer Federation of stopping official league competitions to be performed abroad, preventing fair competition.

From April 2024, however, FIFA and relevant have now solved the matter.
