Lamine Yamal has been in Barcelona's book for more than a decade, but a photo of the 17-year-old during Covid has surfaced to underline how young the Spanish star is
A photo of a youthful Lamine Yamal has surfaced online to leave fans stunned. The Barcelona star makes waves, already considered the top players in the world, even though it is only 17.
He is often the youngest player on the field when he plays, but a photo of him who plays for the youth side of Barcelona has come up again with the teenager who looked more a fresh face. The photo comes from a game in which Barcelona Real Madrid tore apart – with 4-0 for the half hour.
And Yamal, who has continued to strike against Real, will only have become a teenager when the Snap was taken. When the Covid -Lockdown was first imposed, the Barcelona star was only 12. A fan said: “Wild, I now feel old” while the other added: “Time travels so fast”.
Only three years later the winger would make his Barcelona debut. He came from the bank on April 29, 2023 and replaced Gavi Late against Real Betis in La Liga. He sustained the field at the age of 15 years, 9 months and 16 days. In addition, Yamal became the youngest player who appeared before Barcelona since Armando Sagi in 1922 – more than a century earlier.
Now Yamal is a La Liga winner, a Champion of Euro 2024 and recently claimed the first Copa del Rey of his career. In just a month, the Barcelona star was able to add a Spanish title and the Champions League with the Catalans in the semi-final.
The teenage sensation stole the show during their very entertaining 3-3 draw with Inter Milan. He scored a brilliant solo goal, pulled in and out of players before he opened his body to end with his left foot. He almost added a brilliant second, only to be refused by the bar.
Yamal is the newest graduate La Masia, according to Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta, with Rio Ferdinand and explains: “As a purely football talent I go so far that I think I think Lamine Yamal is at a different level for every player who plays the game in the top 5 of world football. 17 years old.”
Inter Milan Baas Simone Inzaghi said after looking at the teenager who constantly caused his defense line: “Lamine is the kind of talent that comes by every 50 years and to see him up close, really impressed me. He caused huge problems because we had to double him and it wasn't enough.”
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick followed that and added: “He is special, he is a genius. He appears in the big competitions. If it comes every 50 years as Simone said, I am happy that it is for Barcelona.”
