At the age of seventeen and already tipped for the Ballon d'Or in the future, Barcelona star Lamine Yamal is perhaps the most valuable player on the football market. However, he has promised to stay with the Blaugrana.
Lamine Yamal has a contract with the club until 2026, but Barcelona will be desperate to sign him long-term. It has been reported that the club had planned a deal with him until 2030, but terms are being renegotiated following his explosion in the past year.
However, the teen star is relaxed about the situation.
“I don't know when (the contract will be signed), but I think it will be soon. Ultimately, Barca is the club of my life. I hope to extend my contract with them and stay with them as long as possible,” he explained to CNN Sport.
“I want to play in the Spanish league. I want to play for Barcelona and yes, I will extend my contract. I will.”
The arrival of Hansi Flick this summer has been good news for all of Barcelona's attackers this season, and Lamine Yamal has become the team's creative focal point alongside Pedri.
“It is true that Hansi is a different coach. The playing style is different. We've tried to adapt to what he told us, and I think we're doing a good job.”
“In 2025 we will give everything to win trophies, starting with the Spanish Super Cup and hopefully this will be the best year of our lives.”
He was confident Barcelona would turn things around in La Liga too after falling behind Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid with just five points in seven games.
“Of course. No question. Ultimately, La Liga will be won against the teams we have lost to before. I think it is about focus. We have shown in the important moments that we are the best and we will continue to do so. ”
Lamine Yamal returns from his ankle injury tonight against Athletic Club, after being sidelined for the past three weeks. It seems likely he will do so from the bench, but Barcelona will have a chance to win the first trophy of the season on Sunday if they beat the Copa del Rey holders.
