Barcelona continued their preparations for the season on Thursday with an emphatic 7-3 victory over FC Seoul. A number of players stood out for the side of Hansi Flick, and until nobody's surprise was Lamine Yamal one of them.
The 18-year-old, who played his second game as a new number 10 from Barcelona, scored twice in the first half of the first goals bore the iconic figure. Both strikes were impressive and were similar to those he scored for the past two years.
According to Marca, after the game, Lamine Yamal spoke about what it meant for him to score for the first time as Barcelona number 10. He also took the opportunity to thank those present in Seoul.
“To be able to score with this shirt and this song is very special. It is a dream I have had since I was a child. I am very happy with the victory of the team. We are very grateful for the support we receive everywhere and we hope that this season will be very successful and we will win many titles.”
Last season was sensational for Lamine Yamal, when he helped Barcelona win a domestic Treble. From an individual perspective, he was a striking artist, who registered 18 goals and 21 assists in 55 performances in all competitions. He hopes to improve that when the new campaign starts in just over two weeks.
There is no doubt that Lamine Yamal will remain a talismanic figure for Barcelona, and although the number 10 on his back is a huge responsibility that will add more pressure, he has shown that control makes him bloom. The Catalans will hope that he will continue to take effect, and the coming season offers him the chance to do that exactly.
