Las Palmas reveals disagreement on Barcelona precautionary measure decision

The decision to grant a precautionary measure to Barcelona, allowing the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, has drawn criticism from all corners of Spanish football. Las Palmas are the latest club to speak out on this issue, and they also disagree with the steps taken by the Higher Sports Council (CSD).

On Thursday, they released a strongly worded statement on the issue.

“The resolution issued yesterday by the Higher Sports Council (CSD) took us by surprise, and from UD Las Palmas we express our absolute disagreement. We believe that this decision poses a serious threat to the integrity of the competition and sets a worrying precedent that could destabilize the foundations of professional football in our country.

“It is particularly striking that this resolution was adopted with unusual speed, without prompting the appearance or participation of La Liga and the RFEF, key players in the management of Spanish football. This procedure ignores previous decisions of both the CSD itself and the courts, generating a sense of arbitrariness that is incompatible with the principles of transparency and fairness that should govern any process of this type.

“From UD Las Palmas, we insist that the effects of these measures be carefully assessed and we trust that respect for the rules that guarantee the integrity of our competition will be restored. UD Las Palmas reaffirms its commitment to the defense of fair, sustainable and balanced football, based on clear rules agreed by all clubs.”

There's no doubt that there's a lot of hostility in Spanish football at the moment over this decision, although Barcelona probably won't care much as they got what they wanted (for now).
