Atletico Madrid -defender Robin Le Normand believes that a suspension for five yellow cards is exaggerated, excluded from Saturday's huge derby against Real Madrid.
Le Normand played the full 90 minutes when Athleti became the semi-final of Copa del Rey on Tuesday in the last eight in the semi-finals in the last eight.
The Diego Simeone team has now won 19 of their last 21 games (one draw, one defeat), and another victory over their Cross-City Rivals would get them top from Laliga.
But Le Normand will be absent in the Santiago Bernabeu, after he had received his fifth yellow card of the season in Saturday's Leage victory at Real Mallorca.
Asked what he would give to play in the derby after Tuesday's victory, he said: “A lot, but it's life, that's how it is, five yellow for defenders there are few.
“It's bad luck, I would have liked to play, but now I have to trust my teammates, we go after them.”
Atleti is haunting their first Copa triumph since 2013 and their first league title since 2020-21, but coach Simeone is not dragged along despite their fine form.
“There is still a long way to go, we have to concentrate in the best way. The healthiest thing is that those who come in come in to compete, whether it is 5, 10 or 15 minutes,” he said.
“That contribution is what we will distinguish or not. If we keep that competition, it gives us the opportunity to continue on the path that we follow.”
The OPTA Supercomputer makes Atleti second favorites to win LaLiga, Triomfling in 21.1% of the season simulations.
They are more likely to be crowned than Barcelona (19.6%), with neighbors Madrid (59.1%) their most important competitors.
“Many things will appear from Thursday to Saturday, as it should be, because it is a classic competition in the city, it's nice that this happens,” said Simeone.
“It's nice that two teams from the city compete so much.”
