England -captain Leah Williamson will miss the start of the new Super League season of the ladies with a knee injury.
Arsenal -defender Williamson sustained the problem in the triumph of England about Spain in last month's final.
It is, however, that the 28-year-old returned to Arsenal with swelling in her right knee and then missed the club's tour through Germany. Tests indicated that she needed a procedure to clean up the problem that took place last week.
The procedure was a success and Williamson has already started her rehabilitation. However, it is expected that she will be out for a few weeks.
