Dan Hardy believes Tom Aspinall can beat Jon Jones
Of all the possible fights that can be had in mixed martial arts, Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall is possibly the most compelling of them all.
The potential matchup would pit one of the greatest of all time with unparalleled creativity against a wrecking machine capable of destroying any opponent who dares to step foot in the cage with him.
With that in mind, the world is desperate to see who would come out on top. It's no surprise that Dan Hardy is intrigued by the fight.
Although he is more than aware of Jones' class, he has no choice but to go to his compatriot to get the job done.
WOW: The incredible amount of money Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury are making for their rematch
In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, the PFL Head of Fighter Operations in Europe said: “I think he deserves a chance at this point and I think he has so much momentum behind him that he is fully prepared and capable of taking on the world to shock.
“A lot of people would expect Jon Jones to be technically too much for him, but I still don't feel like Jones has fully matured into his heavyweight frame.
“He was lighter against Stipe Miocic than against Ciryl Gane. He looked better, sure, but that shape was much closer to light-heavyweight, while Tom Aspinall alternatively weighed 254 pounds, or something like that. He is slim, fast and powerful. He has a well-rounded game.
“Jon Jones certainly has the skills and technical ability to beat Tom Aspinall, but especially in the heavyweight division, speed and power can be the equalizer in any fight, and I think Tom has that in spades.
“So I would lean towards Tom Aspinall. I really hope he gets the chance, and I also hope Jon Jones gets paid for it. That seems to be the biggest sticking point.
“I saw Jake Paul weighing in on how much he should make, $50 million or something like that, but even if he gets half, something he could walk away with and retire without feeling like he was thrown to the wolves. the end of his career, I think that would be good for all parties involved.”
