Leganes 0-1 Barcelona: LaLiga leaders nudge further ahead in title race

Barcelona made the 12 LaLiga matches unbeaten while they defeated Leganes 1-0 to clearly move seven points on top.

The Blaugrana took the decisive goal just after the break in Estadio Municipal de Butarque on Saturday.

Leganes -defender Jorge Saenz turned into his own Net when he tried to block the cross of Raphinha, with Robert Lewandowski with intention.

Lewandowski, who chased his 100th goal for Barca, later saw his header of Raphinha's Cross wide before he was replaced by Ferran Torres after 67 minutes.

The hosts seemed to have leveled when Dani Raba led the cross of Adria Altimira home, but the goal was not allowed for offside.

The second place Real Madrid now has to win at Alaves on Sunday to reduce the gap to four points, while Leganes remains in the relegation zone.

3 – #Barcelona has benefited from three own goals in @Lalalaen 2024/25, more than any other team (3 also from Seville), while #Leganés, with three, the team in the competition with the most own goals scored this campaign. Confusion. pic.twitter.com/zwcatsxqmc

Data debrief: rub van de green

Barca won the victory, although their performance was nothing to write home about, especially on the back of their 4-0 of Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

The Blaugrana had 12 attempts, but only got three on goal and registered 1.19 expected goals.

However, they did not have any shot on goal in the first half. It is the second time that this season has happened in all competitions, after they have not done this against Real Sociedad in November.

But if you clearly charge at the top, you often get a bit of luck and Barca will benefit from your own goal for the third time this season.

Only Sevilla can match that count of own goals to their advantage, while Leganes has now scored three own goals in 2024-25.
