Leicester to learn fate over points deduction next week amid possible breach of Premier League spending rules

Leicester will find out early next week whether they could face a points deduction for breaching Premier League spending rules.

The governing body will announce whether the Foxes have breached their profitability and sustainability rules, which allow clubs to lose no more than £105 million over a three-year period. That figure will be lower for Leicester as they spent last season in the Championship.

Even without a points deduction, Leicester face an uphill battle for survival. They sit 19th in the table, two points behind safety, and face crucial home games against Crystal Palace and Fulham next week.

Boss Ruud van Nistelrooy said: 'The conversations I have had with the hierarchy have been very good conversations. When I took the job, I had a lot of questions about these topics.

'It was very important for me to understand where the club is and where they want to go, and what my role would be in that.

'We started working together and so far there are no signs that anything is wrong (or so I was told). Things unfolded completely as was said at the time. As long as that is the case, we are on the same page. I don't expect that to change.'

Two of Van Nistelrooy's predecessors, Brendan Rodgers and Enzo Maresca, were unhappy with the level of communication from senior figures about the club's financial position.

Leicester have lost their last five league games and are expected to make numerous changes for the FA Cup third round against Queens Park Rangers.
