Leon Edwards confirms that UFC London is the fight of no. 1
Speaking through the latest episode of his UFC London Training Vlog series, Leon Edwards revealed that he had insisted on a late Notice call-up to rematch Muhammad at UFC 315 in April.
“I heard about the replacement fight a few weeks earlier [it was announced] … I tried to fight Belal, but I know they sold London around me.
“It was hard to take me off the card and leave Jack [Della Maddalena] On the map; And because it would be strange to let Jack London headline, you know. '
Edwards then revealed that the promotion confirmed that UFC Fight Night: London will determine who is the next one for the winner of Belal Muhammad vs Jack della Maddalena.
“If Jack goes and gets a victory, it will open the division more – that will be the perfect fight for me. If Belal hits him, then the Rematch is there too … I spoke with the UFC and they said that this is a number one candidate … If I win this, I fight for the title. “
UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs Brady is planned for Saturday 22 March in the O2 Arena in London – with a whole series of British and Irish talent to support Rocky's return.
“New opponent in Sean Brady, it's a style that I am used to, a style that I feel comfortable,” Adwards, adding that he “looked forward to it should be good.”
Belal Muhammad breaks Leon Edwards vs Sean Brady
During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Belal Muhammad offered his opinion about the Main Event of UFC London, as well as how training camp changes for his former opponent after the recent Round-Robin.
“He looked his last two fights well,” Muhammad said about Brady, “I think he should go there and have a performance against Leon, and then we will also see where Leon is because Sean Brady is not an easy task.
“But I have defeated them both, so everyone who looks at that fight just knows that the best man in the world has the belt because you welcomed for both boys and I defeated them all.”
Muhammad was on the Edwards side when it came to the different styles, and noted that his four most recent training camps each are focused on hunters with grab-heavy styles anyway.
“You just had a whole camp for me, you just fought against Usman, and when you look at Jack, it was a very different style than we are, but it will not be a change for you.
“I think Brady shoots a bit like Usman where he reaches, and he doesn't have really great setups … And in a larger cage I think Leon will be able to stay and move, kick and move. But I am excited to see it. “
UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs Brady will fall on Saturday, March 22.
