Leon Edwards has room for belief against Belal Muhammad after dominant showing in forgotten first fight

The former Weltergewet champion believes that he still has unfinished things to attend in the near future.

Leon Edwards is no stranger to bounce back from adversity that it has done several times during his UFC career.

On his return to the Octagon on March 22, Edwards will look to tackle what went wrong in his loss of Belal Muhammad in the UFC 304 main event.

'Rocky' is confronted with Sean Brady in the O2 Arena in London and although this is a huge fight for his career, the Brit is determined to take revenge later.

Edwards can get the chance to face Mohammed for the third time and his first meeting with the current champion should give him confidence, even if their rematch did not go to plan.

Leon Edwards dominated the first round of his first fight with Belal Muhammad

After beating Rafael Dos Anjos in July 2019, Leon Edwards went on a number of difficult moments in the UFC with various canceled fights and a long resignation.

His planned return to Khamzat Chimaev was canceled for a third time before March 13, but on this occasion the MMA leader booked a replacement for 'Rocky'.

Belal Muhammad stepped on late notification in the back of a four-fighter profitstreak after he had defeated Dhiego Lima last month.

With Muhammad on #13 in the ranking, he had a big chance to prove himself against the #3-ranked competition in the Welterweight Division.

Fight fans have expected from a highly measured and calculated approach from Edwards that plays in his well-completed skills and accurately striking.

While that could be seen against Muhammad, he was much more aggressive than normal, and 17 important strikes landed in the opening round compared to the 8 of his opponent.

'Rocky' also landed a big main kick that looked like Wobble Muhammad with Edwards to eliminate the pace to try to get his husband away there.

He convincingly won the round and while the second ended only 18 seconds after following an eye choke, it turned out that 'remember the name' would have to turn the fight upside down to change the direction in which it went.

Not to mention the fact that Mohammed did not ever try a Takedown in the fight with 9 in their Rematch in five rounds.

Leon Edwards can take lessons from this

There is no fight exactly the same and although Leon Edwards has his reasons for his performance at UFC 304, Belal Muhammad also deserves the honor of making some major improvements in recent years.

That said, if you look at what Edwards did well in their first meeting, it is clear that this was missing in the Rematch.

'Rocky' was unable to control the Octagon and push his opponent back so that Mohammed could fight at his pace and consistently shoots for Takedowns.

We may have seen only one full round between them in 2021, but it is clear that if Edwards starts to avenge his loss, it must look like this.
