Leon Edwards responds to concerns he’s dealing with staph infection ahead of UFC London

'Rocky' recently gave an update on his health during the media day prior to his Octagon Return.

Leon Edwards is planning to remind everyone what he is able to do in the UFC London main event on March 22.

After losing his title on UFC 304, the former Welterweight champion received some criticism from different hunters, including Edwards' next opponent Sean Brady.

He now has some doubts to tackle after a difficult night against Belal Muhammad in his third title defense.

After an image prior to the fight, some fans wondered if the health of Edwards would influence his ability to bounce back on Saturday evening.

Leon Edwards drives Staph Rumor by saying that he has already defeated the infection

A recent photo of Leon Edwards training in his gym seemed to show a Staph infection just under his judge Elleboog.

Although Vechtfans are certainly used to seeing this in recent times, it can significantly influence a hunter in their preparations and their performance in the Octagon.

The infection needs a cure with antibiotics to clean up and that can have various effects on the body, making it difficult to perform an athlete at its best.

During his Mediadag interview on the O2 in London, 'Rocky' was asked about the photos people had emphasized on social media.

He confirmed that although there was a kind of infection, he does not know that it was certainly Staph and that it was already treated because it happened earlier in the camp.

Edwards also stated that he did not feel any physical effect despite taking antibiotics, so it had little impact on his way to fight night.

“I actually had it, this was about 6 weeks ago. Just like antibiotics for that, it is gone. I had no consequences of cardio, I was fine. I didn't even know if it was Staph, it was like a bite or something, but yes, that was 6 weeks ago, nothing hit, I'm good.”

Leon Edwards can place himself back in the mix on March 22 with a victory

Despite his heavy night at the office at UFC 304, Leon Edwards is still at the top of the Welterweight division.

Although there are huge interests for both men in the main event, 'Rocky' Die Sean Brady beats him back in the title interview, even if Belal Muhammad seemed to have his next two opponents in line.

With Shavkat Rakhmonov in the Vleugels to see the winner of Muhammad vs Jack della Maddalena in the main event of UFC 315, Edwards may need two victories to really strengthen his status and get another chance on the title, but an impressive performance against Brady would do much for him.
