It is now more than two years ago that Maldini and Ricky Massara were taught by Milan owner Gerry Cardinale – only 12 months after Milan won the Scudetto.
Now that his old club is struggling, former Milan player, coach and director Leonardo told QS: “Should Milan Spirit be stronger? But it was already there – his name was Paolo Maldini.
“As a director, he won a scudetto and reached the semi -final of the Champions League. Then he was sent away and a great piece of passion with him.
“Today everyone realized it: Milan feels empty, soulless. But these are cycles and it will pass. I also believe that the club has understood that they made a mistake.”
