Lerone Murphy breaks down Muhammad Ali-inspired game plan to silence critics after UFC Vegas 105

In his second main event, one of the most in-shape featherweight contenders achieved its 8th consecutive victory in the Octagon.

Lerone Murphy remained unbeaten after he defeated Josh Emmett in the headliner for UFC Vegas 105 on the Apex last Saturday evening.

'The Miracle' has already spoken about what he wants to subsequently, with Murphy Brian Ortega calling for a matchup that could bring him into the title photo.

Although it was undoubtedly the biggest victory of his career so far and a smart performance of the Brit, it was not all praise after the last bell.

Murphy received some criticism both online and within the top after many had the feeling that he fought too carefully, which took away his performance.

Lerone Murphy answers to critics by emphasizing his game plan

When Lerone Murphy is at his best, he is an incredibly flexible and controlling operator and could implement it against Josh Emmett on 5 April.

The 33-year-old has had a number of difficult fights since he was signed at the UFC in 2019, but at one of the most dangerous contenders of the division he was able to avoid the one-off strength of the American.

Murphy came out relatively unscathed after five rounds and won the game via a unanimous decision with scores of 48-47, 49-46 and 48-47.

'The Miracle' made all his feelings about the performance clear in his interview after the fight, where he answered the reaction of the crowd by emphasizing how he had performed his game plan perfectly, that trusted in avoiding wild exchanges with Emmett.

He echoed the same sentiment in a social media post the next day, referring to how he had to be constantly on the road and staying on his strategy to prevent him from making a mistake and being tagged with a big shot.

Murphy closed his thoughts with a reference to the greatest of all time.

“Kliniek! Real MMA fans will appreciate the technical way of that fight. That is Fighting IQ. The punishment of elbows in narrow, body stairs, neat footwork. Had wound him a few times. Why would I stay in the pocket with a power puncher. Put like a butterfly as a Bijen Baby.”
