Bayer Leverkusen is said to be considering a shock movement to sign Jadon Sancho this summer.
Sancho, 25, is a bit of a crossroads in his career, where the winger of Manchester United had had a limited impact on loan in Chelsea this season.
The English star moved to Stamford Bridge last summer after he was banned in Old Trafford, but he only scored three goals and added five assists in the Premier League.
Chelsea has the obligation to buy Sancho for £ 23 million at the end of the season, but Mail Sport has previously reported how Enzo Maresca's side can pay a fine of £ 5 million to prevent the transfer from taking place.
It is still to be seen whether the blues will do this, but if not, the independent claimed that German Zij Leverkusen Sancho can give the chance to re -deny his career.
Sancho, who came to United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £ 73 million, has a hard time replicating the form he showed in two spells in Germany, where he scored 53 times and added 67 assists in 153 games in a four -year stint between 2017 and 2021 and a loan spell in the second half of the last season.
The report claims that Leverkusen thinks about a movement for Sancho, given his earlier impact on the Bundesliga.
Some Italian clubs also show interest, but Dortmund has reportedly decided not to go back for their former star.
The financial concerns of United are well documented, especially after losing the Europa League final from Wednesday to Tottenham – and Sancho has long been available for transfer in the midst of their needs to sell players.
The United career of Sancho fell apart over a public argument with former boss Erik ten Hag.
After a defeat by Arsenal in September 2023, the Dutchman fell to the training performances of the wing player.
Sancho, however, hit back and accused Ten Hag van Liegen, claimed that he had been made a 'scapegoat' and refused to apologize – then frozen with the winger.
This means that there is an important factor that could stimulate every movement to Leverkusen.
In the midst of Xabi Alonso's threatening departure to Real Madrid, Leverkusen is considering their next boss and they have drawn up a shortlist.
The reservation is that Ten Hag is on that shortlist and some points of sale have reported that the Dutchman is at the top, which means that his appointment would probably turn every interest in Sancho.
In the meantime, last month, Chelsea boss Maresca remained tight lips when he was pressed in his position with regard to Sancho Permanent.
“It is not the time to discuss his future,” he said. 'I am fully focused on nine games, two months to go, I am completely focused on that. We will see what happens in the summer.
'The Jadon situation does not change. In terms of figures, he could undoubtedly do better. It's not just about Jadon, but we have more players in the same situation. '
