Levy makes decision on Postecoglou after winning just one of their last 7 games

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou retains the immediate backing of chairman Daniel Levy despite the team's alarming form.

Spurs have won one game in seven – their thrilling 4-0 win over Manchester City – which has led to uncertainty over Postecoglou's future.

For now, however, the Australian coach is not under any unnatural pressure to keep his job at Levy committed to the 59-year-old.

It is acknowledged that recent results, apart from the win at the Etihad Stadium, have been disappointing and if their form does not improve, Postecoglou's government will obviously come under increased internal scrutiny.

Tottenham led 2-0 at home against Chelsea on Sunday, but managed to lose 4-3 after two penalties.

The reaction of supporters to Postecoglou will also play a role if results do not improve in the near future.

After their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth last week, fans booed and several insults were leveled at the manager, who initially backed his players.

But it is understood that the team, especially in defense, is hampered by important injuries, especially to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Spurs also take on Manchester United later next week for a place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals as the club look to win their first trophy since 2008.

Victory over Rangers on Thursday also sees them move into the automatic qualification places for the Europa League knockout stages.

Postecoglou and Levy have a good relationship with the Spurs chairman, who is keen to give his under-fire boss every opportunity to stop the team's recent misstep.

And while results will inevitably be the deciding factor for Postecoglou's long-term future, Spurs want to give their head coach time to improve results.
