Lewandowski nets 100th UCL goal becoming the third person after Ronaldo & Messi
After two games in a row without a win (defeat against Real Sociedad, draw against Celta Vigo), Barcelona will be looking to get back on track when they take on Brest in their fifth Champions League fixture of the season. It is a general trend for Hansi Flick's side to score early in games, and in this match they did so again.
It is Robert Lewandowski who manages to find the back of the net after just ten minutes. He was fouled by Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot in the penalty area, before picking himself up to deliver the resulting penalty.
It's a cool and confident penalty from Lewandowski, who has now reached 100 goals in the Champions League. He is only the first player in history to achieve this feat, after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Barcelona can settle for this early goal, because it is their fourth victory in a row in the Champions League. They are already on track here.
Robert Lewandowski has joined Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in an exclusive Champions League club after scoring an early penalty in Barcelona's home match against Brest on Tuesday.
After making a mistake in the penalty area, the Polish striker calmly stroked the ball past opposing goalkeeper Marco Bizot from twelve yards to score his 100th goal in UEFA's elite club competition.
Only two other players have achieved triple figures in the competition and there would have been no prizes if you had guessed who they were. Ronaldo leads the way with 140 goals in 183 appearances, followed by Messi, who scored 129 times in 163 games.
At 36, there appears to be little hope that Lewandowski can overtake the Argentinian, although he should be safely in third place for some time to come. Karim Benzema is next at 90, but is also 36 and now playing in Saudi Arabia, meaning the stars of the younger generation are the most likely to threaten to join the club.
Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé (49 goals in 77 appearances) and Manchester City's Erling Haaland (44 goals in 43 games) are the obvious candidates, although they are still a few years away from matching Ronaldo, Messi and now Lewandowski.
