Lionel Messi on the sidelines for dramatic Inter Miami finale

The side of Javier Mascherano took on Orlando City in their last match before the start of the 2025 season.

Inter Miami completed their preparations in 2025 on Friday evening with a hard -fought match against Buren Orlando City. The herons had an impressive record on their way to their last preseason, but went twice in Tampa Bay.

Goals from Martín Ojeda and Ramiro Enrique brought Orlando ahead twice, but Inter Miami showed their resilience to fight back twice. Tadeo Allende scored halfway through the first half and new signing Fafà Picault took a draw in the third minute of injury time.

Miami called in 2024 to the supporters' Shield title, but fell at the first obstacle in the Play -Offs and suffered a loss of a kasting in Atlanta United. The lack of plow depth of the herons was cited as a reason for their drop-off and the club has moved to reinforce in the low season.

Both goal scorers from Friday – Allende and Picault – arrived before the 2025 campaign and they have already shown their value. Both Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez were withdrawn with another 15 minutes left on Friday, with the team still 2-1 down. Their ability to fight back, against MLS -without one of those Talismian attackers, is good for Miami this season.

Inter Miami starts the new campaign with the first stage of their Concacaf Champions Cup collision against Sporting Kansas City on Tuesday 18 February. The next weekend they will organize New York City FC on Saturday 22 February in their MLS opener.
