One of Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses is accelerated to the second favorite to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award after her last heroic deeds have helped England retain their European crown.
The lionesses defeated Spain 3-1 on penalties in the final of the Euro 2025 on Sunday in Basel, after a tense 1-1 draw after extra time.
BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award is one of the most sought after in the calendar and the victory for Wiegman's side has dramatically seen her chances.
Hannah Hampton denied both Mariona Caldentey and Ballon d'Or Winner Aitana Bonmati from the place, before Salma Paralluelo widely shooted a second shootout-master class of the 24-year-old at this tournament.
She also saved two penalties in the chaotic quarterfinals victory of England over Sweden and established herself as one of the breakout stars of the summer.
It marks a remarkable increase for Hampton, who was an understudy for Mary Earps during the English Euro -Triumph on home floor in 2022 and again at the World Cup World of 2023.
Earps itself won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award in 2023 after storing a fine in the World Cup final – also against Spain – albeit in a losing business.
EARPs ended in the public mood for Stuart Broad and Katarina Johnson-Thompson that year.
According to Betfair, Hampton is now on 5/1 joint second favorite to win Spoty, behind only Rory McIlroy, who leads the market in Evens after an excellent season, including winning the masters in April first green coat and fifth major in general.
Formula 1 -ster Lando Norris is also priced on 5/1, after recently demanded a hugely popular victory in Silverstone, who won the British Grand Prix for the first time in his career.
The McLaren driver is currently also 16 points behind teammate Oscar Piastri in the race for the World Drivers' Championship.
England Captain Lucy Bronze (15/2) and colleague Lioness Leah Williamson (16/1) are also in the race, while Teenage Darts Sensation Luke Littler is priced on 9/1.
