Liverpool 1-2 Newcastle RATINGS: Who has taken his place in the history books?

Newcastle became Wembley Black and White on Sunday and it will stay that way for a long time after they have picked up their first domestic trophy since 1955.

But which star has taken its place in these history books? Who enjoyed a 'fairytale -like' week? And who had his worst game in a long time?

Eddie Howe and his men have etched their name in history with the 2-1 victory in the Carabao Cup final above Liverpool, with local hero than Burn on the score sheet in the first half and Alexander Isak doubled the lead in the second.

Liverpool, who packed a comfort by Federico Chiesa, will now like to pick up and look up the season as Premier League champions after a devastating week, so that they were beaten out of the Champions League and lost the Carabao Cup final.

Newcastle is now in Dreamland, and the parties will continue for a few days as a player who shines around the world for international service.

Craig Hope from Mail Sport and Lewis Steele were in Wembley to judge the players on Sunday.

Liverpool (4-2-3-1)

Caoimhin Kelleher – 6

Little could do about the goals of Newcastle and without the Irishman, Liverpool might be dead and buried. Burn and Isak refused up close.

Jarell Quansah – 5

A few shaky accents and Liverpool missed the creativity of Trent Alexander-Arnold and the help he often gives in build-up game.

Ibrahima Konate – 6

A few times well -blown and made a huge tackle to prevent Isak from clearing clearly in the first half.

Virgil van Dijk – 5.5

The captain often started attacking well, but in the end Newcastle caused more problems for Liverpool than almost every team has this season.

Andy Robertson – 5.5

Far too easily beaten for the second goal of Newcastle. Murphy had Robertson better all afternoon, but made some large blocks.

Ryan Gravenberch – 5

Played in several different positions, but did not have the impact he enjoyed this season in most games.

Alexis Mac Allister – 5

Not his fault, but why was 5ft 9 in Mac Allister who had the task to mark 6ft 7 in for the first goal? Not his best afternoon.

Mohamed Salah – 4.5

By far the best player in England this season, if not Europe – but this was his worst game in a long time. Completely void.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 5

A tireless runner as always, but Newcastle Baas the midfield and Szoboszlai could not pass people like Joelinton, Guimaraes and Tonali.

Luis Diaz – 4.5

None of the Liverpool attackers deserves a pleasant brand. None of them did enough to win the game.

Diogo Jota – 4.5

Miles of his best form in recent weeks. Had Liverpool's best chance of the game with the last staircase of the first half, but the wildlife switched wide.

Replacement

Darwin Nunez (for Jota, 56min) – 5

Curtis Jones (for Konate, 56min) – 7

Cody Gakpo (for Mac Allister, 67min) – 5

Federico Chiesa (for Gravenberch, 73min) – 7

Harvey Elliott (for Diaz, 73min) – 6

Manager: Arne Slot – 6

His XI missed creativity and deception. Jota and Diaz will do well to keep their places for the next competition.

Newcastle (4-3-3)

Nick Pope – 8

His first salvation was huge, and denied Jones on 2-0 in the hour. Ponst, kicked and knew everything else. Retaliation after missing in 2023 because of a ban.

Kieran Trippier – 8.5

Used all his class and experience and it sent a message to his teammates – we belong here. He was huge – and played for an hour with a hamstring injury!

Fabian Schar – 8.5

The only time Burns missed one, he was there. He was even everywhere. Cool and calm in the defense and so composed on the ball.

Dan Burn – 9

Has a football player ever had a better week? First call-up in England, first Newcastle scorer at Wembley in 25 years and a colossal version to start up. Fairytale dings.

Tino Livramento – 8.5

So much for him to worry about Salah. His reaction was to carry out the attack himself and, from his cross, the second goal came. Looked like an English full-back here.

Bruno Guimaraes – 8.5

The display of a captain and rightly takes its place in the club's history books. He ran, tackled and snarled his way through 90 minutes. Brave.

Sandro Tonali – 8.5

This time it is more transplantation than craftsmanship of Italian, but just like his Brazilian midfield subsidkicks, he never stopped. What a journey he has been.

Joelinton – 9.5

He set the tone from the start. If the Brazilian plays well, the team does that too. You felt that he could have played Liverpool himself and still won. Mama.

Jacob Murphy – 8

Had been a bit sticky with his feet, but then delivered the beautiful assist for Isak with his head. To think, he could not get a game for the most part before Howe arrived.

Alexander Isak – 8.5

Had barely touched the ball before the moment he bounced for the second. That is what players of his class do. It turned out to be the difference.

Harvey Barnes – 8

Van Gordon's suspension benefited and wasted his chance. Was involved for the most important second goal and was a threat everywhere.

Manager: Eddie Howe – 9.5

Sent his team on the front foot and that was where they were. They start best to hire the statue …

Replacement

Joe Willock (for Barnes, 81)

Callum Wilson (for Isak, 81)

Emil Krafth (for Murphy, 90)
