Liverpool £15m bid rejected as Arne Slot forced to U-turn on January plans

January is already shaping up to be a busy month for Liverpool as they look to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds have risen to top spot despite only signing Federico Chiesa in the summer. But boss Arne Slot may want to strengthen his squad during the winter period, as it looks increasingly likely that his side will challenge for honors on four fronts in 2025.

There will also be a lot of focus on the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who are all out of contract at the end of the season. The Reds have already rejected a bid from Real Madrid for Alexander-Arnold.

Slot has now spoken out about the Englishman's future and expects him to stay at least as a reminder of his current deal. Here, Mirror Football collects all the latest Liverpool transfer news.

Reds make transfer U-turn

Liverpool have recalled full-back Calvin Ramsay from his loan deal at Wigan Athletic. The 21-year-old had hoped to get regular playing time this season with the League One side, which he joined this summer.

But the move did not go as hoped, with Ramsay making just three starts in all competitions. Wigan have confirmed that he has now returned to Liverpool and will be loaned out again.

In a statement, the Latics said: “We can confirm that defender Calvin Ramsay has returned to Liverpool FC. The 21-year-old originally signed a season-long loan deal in the summer but is leaving the Brick Community Stadium after 12 appearances.” in all competitions.”

Slot speaks out about the future of Alexander-Arnold

Arne Slot has insisted Trent Alexander-Arnold is not for sale after Liverpool rejected a bid from Real Madrid for the right-back. The right back will see his contract expire in the summer and Slot expects him to stay at least until then.

“It was a conversation like many others we've had, me and Trent, so let's leave it at that. “I can tell you that he will play on Sunday and hopefully he will bring the same performance as he has in the last six months,” he said.

“Everyone has seen how great a first half of the season he has had, how much he is here, how much he wants to win here. I see him every day on the training pitch working really hard. He is completely committed to us and he will play on Sunday.”

Doak offer rejected

Liverpool have rejected Crystal Palace's bid for Ben Doak. The 19-year-old is currently enjoying a successful loan spell at Middlesbrough, where he won the Championship's Player of the Month for November.

His performances caught the attention of Palace, who made a £15 million bid for him on Friday. But Liverpool are understood to believe the offer is well below the Scotland international's valuation.

They will not accept bids below their valuation, which is expected to be above £20 million. Palace may come back with a new offer, but they will have to significantly increase their bid to have any chance of landing the promising wide player.
