Match report

Luis Diaz shot Arne Slot's Reds 1-0 in the 18th minute when he tapped home at the far post after a low cross of Mohamed Salah, played in his first game since he signed a new contract.

Salah saw that breaking the record for most target involvement in a 38-game season in the competition with 45, although his performance was overshadowed by Laat Drama in a fascinating final.

Van Dijk moved the cross of Aaron Wan Bissaka to Andy Robertson, who returned Alisson to Alisson with four minutes, only for the captain of Liverpool and then went home from the 89th minute corner of Alexis Mac Allister.

Diaz had just hit the bar a few moments earlier, as Mac Allister raised with a second half of free kick on 1-0, before Niclas Fullkrug went on the woodwork with what the level would have been in stopping time.

The dramatic victory leaves the side of Arne Slot who only needs six points of their remaining six games to win the crown, while West Ham is falling to the 17th only 14 points free from the city of Ipswich in the relegation zone.

Data Debrief: Super Salah

Salah moved past Arsenal's Thierry Henry (2002-03) and the Erling Haaland (2022-23) from Manchester City with his first half to break the 38-game record for the Premier League goals in one period.

The Egypt star will now strive for the record of 47, held jointly by Andy Cole (for Newcastle United in 1993-94) and Alan Shearer (for Blackburn Rovers in 1994-95), with six more games.

This season, Salah also helped 18 Premier League goals, the most by a player in a season since Kevin De Bruyne in 2019-2020 (20), who remains a joint record with Henry of the 2002-03 campaign.

Liverpool, however, required an alternative hero in Van Dijk, who has scored more Premier League goals since his debut in September 2015 than any other central defender (24).

Eighteen of those Premier League objectives have been passed by headers, the only defender with more is John Terry (27), although it was so far the most important in Liverpool colors.
