Liverpool has reached an agreement to sell Jarrell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen, the third permanent transfer agreement that will be concluded between the two clubs this summer, after Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz the movements to Anfield
Liverpool has reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the third deal between the two clubs this summer – with Jarrell Quansah that joins the German side.
The Reds have already signed Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from the Bundesliga Club. And now England Under-21 is planned to join Bayer when his participation in the U21 European Championships comes to an end. Quansah is part of the young lion side who reached the quarterfinals in Slovakia, where they will meet Holland on Wednesday.
Bayer, among the new boss Erik ten Hag, has given a priority to a move for a new center-back after losing the old Lynchpin Jonathan Tah. He joined Rivals Bayern Munich on a free transfer.
Now they bank on quansah as the man to fill that void, and have agreed the conditions with the Reds with a £ 35 million deal. The Reds will have an initial £ 30 million banking, with another £ 5 million in add-ons. Quansah agreed a deal until 2030.
It is intriguing that Liverpool did not close the door in the middle, which means that return to Anfield, after he has insisted on a buy-back clause in the move. Kop -leaders believe that Quansah can still have a future on Merseyside, but that he has to play and play football regularly to fulfill his potential.
Quansah made 24 performances in all competitions last season, but only made five starts in the Premier League. One of them came on the opening day in Ipswich and saw him addicted during the break.
With Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk, the first choice will remain in situ, and the club that is looking for a new center -back to challenge Konate – whose future future remains in question, with his contract succeeded next summer – it was decided that a further reduction of playing time would do little except the development of Quansah.
And despite the fact that he only signed a long -term deal with Liverpool in October, an agreement has been reached that sees him to Germany.
Marc Guehi has emerged as a potential solution for the Reds, where the Crystal Palace Captain would leave Selhurst Park this summer. The £ 30 million that came for Quansah will go a way to pay for the English international, who is very enthusiastic about moving to Anfield. Palace is in conversation with Sporting Lisbon to land Ousmane Diomande as his replacement.
The relocation also represents a record compensation for Leverkusen, and surpassed the £ 27 million they paid Hoffenheim to Land Kerem Demirbay in 2019.
