Liverpool and Arsenal in transfer battle with 3rd EPL club for ‘new Mahrez’

Liverpool and Arsenal would have inquired for a transfer for Mohamed Amoura and have been accompanied by Nottingham Forest on the hunt for the Wolfsburg for the summer

Liverpool, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest are all in line to try to sign a player with the label 'The New Riyad Mahrez'. Wolfsburg -star Mohamed Amoura has drawn a number of admirers this season for his versions in the Bundesliga.

In loan from Union Saint-Gilloise, Amoura has produced 10 goals and nine assists in 27 Bundesliga trips in 2024/25. Fresh back from an international break where he fell over Mozambique in Hattrick for Algeria, the interest in the player seems to intensify.

Amoura will become permanently members of Wolfsburg this summer, because an obligation to buy was placed in his loan agreement. The German side secured the signature of the attacker for almost £ 14 million and could look for a fee that more than doubles that price.

Liverpool would already be in conversation with the player's camp and the 24-year-old even scored against the Reds in December 2023. They will experience the competition of Premier League rivals with Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, also their questions, per l'Equipe.

Amoura will be a contraction with Wolfsburg until June 2028, with an optional extra year, and the side will continue to compete for European football. The Ralph Hasenhuttl team has been established to demand £ 29.3 million £ 33.5 million for their star.

Hasenhuttl has previously described his load as both a 'Bal van Energie' and a 'player who runs on electric batteries this season. Forest and Arsenal both want to add firepower to their forward line, while Liverpool may still have to replace the goals of Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have only seen one addition to their team under Arne Slot in Federico Chiesa and were still able to lose Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. Their Dutch coach has already suggested that a busier summer should be expected after avoiding transfers in January.

“Liverpool should always compete for a competition title, we always have to compete for the Champions League. I hope I can keep the club at that level,” said Slot earlier this year.

“I know that people sometimes question this because they have not seen us do much on the transfer market in the summer and now also in the winter. There is a reason for that – because we are happy with the team.

“But I do know that we will certainly work on strengthening in the summer.”

Nottingham Forest and Arsenal both did not land in recent windows in recent windows, and hope to land extra firepower in the summer. The side of Nuno Espirito Santo perhaps in particular wants more depth as they occur for the qualification of Champions League.
