The La Liga market has become a subject of Focus for many Premier League clubs in recent weeks, including Liverpool and Chelsea. And both clubs have now set their sights on one of the breakout stars in Spain of the 2024-25 season, that is Jesus Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was not calculated by the real betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini during the first few months of the season, but since November he has become an important member of the first team team. Since January he has cemented himself in the starting line-up above EZ Abde, and during this period he has produced various impressive performance.
It is not surprising that Rodriguez's displays started to attract attention from all over Europe, and it is the Premier League who has shown a special interest in the 19-year-old winger. As reported by the Daily Mail (via Cahteroffside), Liverpool and Chelsea are in the race to sign him, with the last one that is said to be particularly happy to bring London in the summer.
In recent weeks, Rodriguez has mainly played on the left wing to accommodate the winter transfer window to Antony – and if he avoids that he leaves Betis in the summer, he could continue to play there because Los Verdiblancos could have options to retain the services of the Lenikee of Manchester United. However, he can also operate on the right wing, which he did this occasionally when Pablo Fornals was injured during the winter period.
Rodriguez has a release clause of € 50 million and activating this would be the only guaranteed way in which a deal could be closed. At this stage it is far from certain whether Betis would consider having one of their valued young players leave, but they were open to a sale, it would certainly not be cheap. However, Chelsea and Liverpool could probably afford what the asking price is.
