Liverpool and Man Utd’s transfer stance on Adam Wharton as Real Madrid eye move

Liverpool and Manchester United have reportedly decided to pursue a move for Adam Wharton, where Real Madrid is now interested in the Crystal Palace star.

Injury problems have limited Wharton to only nine Premier League start so far this season, but he is impressed since he came to Palace of Blackburn Rovers last year. The 21-year-old is generally seen as one of the best midfielders in the competition and was part of the English team that finished second at Euro 2024.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Madrid looks into a summer for Wharton with the head scouts of the club June Calafat a great admirer. The report states that Madrid has followed Wharton's progress.

Both Liverpool and United are credited with an interest in Wharton, but it is claimed that they prioritize other summer goals for him. Manchester City is also said to have considered signing Wharton in the January transfer window, but he was injured at the time and she eventually drew Nico Gonzalez from Porto instead.

Palace is supposed to appreciate the player about £ 70 million and he is expected to be admitted to Thomas Tuchel's first English team later this month. That is despite the fact that palace boss Oliver Glasner insists in Tuchel not to choose Wharton, after he could have carefully saved his return from the injury.

“Everyone knows what Adam can do – but we have to be patient,” said Glasner after Wharton started his first competition since October in the 4-1 victory of Palace over Aston Villa last week. “He has made an effort since the final of the euros – he gets more minutes.

“He will get a lot of games for the three lions in his career. I don't know if this will be the right moment in March after a long injury. Give him time, he is a young boy with a great talent. But at the end of the day it will be Thomas Tuchel's decision.”

Wharton was appointed player of the game against Villa and was pleased to start back after a long absence. “I feel good, which is always good,” Wharton said. “I am just happy that I can get minutes and help the team to get such results.

“I thought it was a top performance. We were holding on to the plan. We had to be patient. They are a good team. It will never be easy to just win. You have to be patient and, if you get the chances, you have to take them – and we did that tonight. It was a great three points.”
