Luis Diaz completed a transfer to Bayern Munich from Liverpool after a summer of speculation about his future and Reds -Baas Arne Slot has now given his opinion on the move
Arne Slot believes that Liverpool has led 'Great Business' to make a profit by selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich. The Colombia International completed £ 65.5 million on the Bundesliga Giants and signed a deal until 2029 in the Allianz Arena.
Diaz, 28, was never declared in the window by the Reds, but the club was eventually influenced to separate from their star. The winger played an important role in Liverpool's title profit, but was constantly connected to a step away from the club despite the fact that he was under contract for two years.
Diaz saw Diaz bring a stay of three and a half years in Anfield to end after he arrived at Merseyside of Porto in a deal worth a first £ 37 million in 2022. Liverpool has made a considerable profit on the player, who comes as a head boss lock immediately finds his replacement from the inside.
Slot admitted that he was disappointed to see Diaz leave, after the attacker had recorded 13 goals and seven assists in the Premier League in the past term. However, the Dutchman has faith in the ability to bring in new players, and admitted that sometimes outputs are needed to facilitate that.
“Luis is a player with whom we won the competition and there is a reason why we won it with him because he is a very good player,” said Slot. “It is always disappointing to see such a person leave, to a certain extent.
“But on the other hand, we sold it for a lot of money and, as you probably know even better than me, this football club has an incredible signing sessions over the years, but part of the strategy is also that we have to sell someone occasionally.
“I think we have done a great thing by bringing in Lucho for a number of years and then selling him for a very good win. Lucho was a player who was a pleasure to work with because he always had a smile on his face every day. I will remember him as someone who was a pleasure to work with and a Premier competition title winner.”
Slot believes that he already has a number of options at his disposal to fill the loam of Diaz. The former Feyenoord-Boas's name has checked the young star Rio Ngumoha, which has so far been impressed by the preseason, Cody Gakpo and Florian Wirtz as options.
“I think if players leave, whether it is Trent (Alexander-Arnold) or Lucho, you always have to replace them with quality,” he said. “But sometimes quality can be in different positions. We have more than a few players who can play in a number of positions.
