Hugo Ekitike is expected to complete his move to Liverpool in the coming days, with the French striker who arrives in the UK earlier this week for his medical
Hugo Ekitike has already shared the field with some legendary figures, and the striker is now ready to add another chapter to his journey with a move to Liverpool. The 23-year-old will be the newest blockbuster arrival of the Reds, agreed with a transfer of £ 79 million with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ekitike, who underwent a medical on Tuesday, will be the third main sign function of the club this summer of the Bundesliga, in the footsteps of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, who both arrived from Bayer Leverkusen.
The deal for Ekitike comes to Anfield after a few days, who started with the club that went after Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. But when the magpies were on it that the striker was not for sale at any price, Liverpool turned to Ekitike and moved quickly to match a deal.
Now the French attacker will form a central part of the new attack by Arne Slot, in addition to Mo Salah, Wirtz and Flying Full-Backs Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, with Liverpool all the way to successfully defend their Premier League title.
Once the move has been completed, the Reds have protected one of the most appreciated young attackers in the game. Ekitike yielded 22 times and gave 12 assists – statistics that made him a target for different elites ideas.
He has already brushed shoulders with icons such as Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe at PSG, and has also shared a dressing room with the end corner of the World Championship -Eindcorer Gotze during his Stint in Frankfurt. Gotze had glowing things to say about the striker – words that will be music in the ears of Liverpool fans.
“I think Hugo Ekitike has a power that few players have with his dribbling, his finish and his speed,” Gotze told Bein Sports last year. 'Of course he can help us [Frankfurt] a lot of.
“We saw it last year: we just need everyone to be at 100 percent. This applies to everyone who has played for the new one, to those who have been here a little longer. And he is undoubtedly an extra value for the team.”
Gotze's praise bears even more weight on Anfield because of his history with Jurgen Klopp. The midfielder was a central figure in the success of Dortmund under Klopp and even came close to him in Liverpool in 2016 – a movement that he later gave that he should have been made.
“I went to his house in Liverpool, where we sat together in the living room with our women,” Gotze told the player's grandstand. “What makes Jurgen special is that he sees Mario the person. We didn't talk much about football. He didn't say:” How can I convince you? What do you want? “
“He asked me about life in general, and I think he said something like:” Look, Mario, you'll play a lot, and you'll have fun here. I know that's the most important thing for you. The club is great. Think about it. ” I really wanted to play for him again “
Although Ekitike will not experience playing under Klopp, his arrival could be an important part of the evolving team of Slot while Liverpool is preparing to defend their Premier League crown and to penetrate more glory next season.
