Liverpool finally received the Premier League trophy on Sunday and Chiefs in Anfield are now focused to build a team that can defend the title in the 2025-26 season
Liverpool -chairman Tom Werner has sworn to build an 'even better' team next season and has revealed that they are 'already busy' in the transfer market. Werner, who is also chairman of the Boston Red Sox, was in Anfield on Sunday to see how the Reds lifted the Premier League trophy.
It was a remarkable title -winning season, despite the fact that manager Arne Slot added only one player to the team he inherited from the legendary boss Jurgen Klopp. But this summer will be different, with Liverpool strongly connected to two players.
Bayer Leverkusen Duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, who look more than £ 100 million combined, are in conversation to become a member of the Reds. Slot got stuck on the transfer company of Liverpool, but Werner has offered more a clear hint on their renewed ambitions.
“It's already busy,” said the Anfield chef. “We are going again. It never gets old, winning. We owe it to all our supporters to bring a team back even better.”
Werner, 75, also paid tribute to the 'extraordinary' lock after his great first season that was in charge. “We clearly had high expectations of this season, but he was an extraordinary coach,” he added.
“I think there have been three coaches who won the Premier League in their first season and Arne is one of them. He is just an extraordinary leader. He is authentic, he tries to be no one else. The team was an extremely good team, but he brought the best out of them.”
His comments come after Slot Sky Sports told in the midst of the title celebrations: “We know the club, Richard [Hughes, sporting director]The property, we are all tailored to what we are trying to achieve.
“It is already very, very positive that we have kept Mo [Salah] and Virgil [van Dijk] And a few others we are trying to sign look positive. “
Who should sign Liverpool this summer? Say in the commentary part.
In his press conference after the match, the Dutchman was asked to get at the start of signing sessions. “We just want good players and ideally you sign them as soon as possible,” Slot replied. “But it is not always easy to sign good players, let alone to sign them early in the window.
“But this club is not starting to work from today. So much hard work is being done this season to find out what goals we have and try to sign them.
“I am confident that if we have tackled the right player, we try to sign that player. But let's see when that will happen and whether that will happen because I am very happy with the team we already have.”
