Liverpool could lose another ‘absolute leader’ this summer

Liverpool could be set this summer for a large squadevision with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all out of contract, while Eintracht Frankfurt is interested in Wataru Endo.

Wataru Endo could be the next player who left Liverpool, whereby Trent Alexander-Arnold generally expected to join Real Madrid to a free transfer. The Laliga Giants have faith in landing Alexander-Arnold, but the deal has not yet been done.

Alexander-Arnold is one of the three important players who no longer have a contract at the end of the season and although Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have said they hope to stay in Anfield, no extensions have been agreed.

It is still to be seen whether Van Dijk and Salah Alexander-Arnold will follow the door, but Bild reports that Endo is a transfer target for Eintracht Frankfurt. The report states that Frankfurt wants to sign an experienced midfielder this summer.

They missed Pascal Gross last summer, where the 33-year-old came to Borussia Dortmund instead, and it is claimed that they are ready to make an Endo offer if they are eligible for the Champions League.

Frankfurt is currently fourth in the Bundesliga and could also reach the Champions League by winning the Europa League of this season, with the Dino Toppmoller side to compete against Tottenham Hotspur in the quarterfinals.

The report claims that Frankfurt Endo considers an 'absolute leader' and that the move is 'not excluded'. So far, Endo has not made any Premier League start for Liverpool this season, but Reds -Baas Arne Slot is a big fan of the midfielder.

“I think Wata was really useful for us this season,” said Slot last month after Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Wolves. “It is not always a matter of how many minutes you play, you can be very important in two minutes and you can be less important in 90 minutes.

“What makes Wata special, in my opinion that every time we have to trust him – if it is five, 10, 20 or 25 minutes – it appears. It sounds much easier than it is because if a player has had hardly any playing time to be mentally so strong that if the team needs you, you can do your best performance – that is not always easy.

“Because you usually see that players who don't play much find it difficult to get their rhythm or their quality in the less playing time they get. The only thing is that defends is always easier than creating.

“So if you play a player who has not played for a long time and he has to make something, it is always more difficult than defending. He has been important to us and he will also be important to us in the coming weeks.”

And Endo says that he remains “happy” in Liverpool, despite his lack of starts. “The only thing I can do is show myself every time I have a chance, just keep working hard,” Endo told Club Media. “I am still happy to be part of this club and I can still feel that I can do something for this club.”
