Liverpool failed in bid to sign Real Madrid superstar in 2023 summer

Real Madrid are preparing to take on Liverpool in their fifth leg of this season's Champions League, and they will do so with Federico Valverde by their side. However, if things had been different, they could have faced the Uruguayan midfielder instead.

During the 2023 summer transfer window, Liverpool were looking for high-quality midfield signings. They eventually acquired the services of World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister and according to Relevo they were also very interested in Valverde.

Liverpool officials contacted Valverde's representatives and they hoped the transfer in Real Madrid's midfield would tempt him. However, this turned out not to be the case as the 26-year-old rejected the advances made.

Valverde has gone to another level this season and he has certainly been one of the standout players for Real Madrid. He hopes to have a big voice at Anfield on Wednesday evening.
