Liverpool fan reveals the touching gesture Diogo Jota made to his son

The death of Diogo Jota at the age of 28 is mourning by the football community – especially those he has touched personally.

Jota, who was killed in a car accident with his brother Andre in North Spain while he was on his way to catching a night feather to the UK, had a special impact on one supporter.

The fan, Steven Davies, had contacted after his own son Liam went through a difficult time.

Jota took the time to send Liam a video message of support and said: 'Hello Liam, I believe you don't have it easy now, so I just wanted to contact us to say that you have the support of everyone in Liverpool, just as you have always supported us.

'I am not an expert, but when I have a hard time, I always make sure that I listen to the doctors and do exactly what they tell me to do, all the things they say, such as eating and drinking the right things a big difference for me when I have a hard time.

'Hopefully it's the same for you. Take good care of yourself and hopefully we will see you soon in Anfield. '

The sweet gesture meant a lot to Steven, who shared the old clip after the tragic news of the death of Jota arose today.

On X he wrote: '4 years ago, when my boy was at his lowest, Diogo took the time to record this for him and it helped more than he will ever know.

'It was a small task, but it meant so much and I would like to thank him personally for it. Thank you Diogo. '

He added that he had difficulty processing the devastating sad news and called Liverpool to retire Jota's no. 20.

Jota was considered a gentleman without ego and he was worshiped by his teammates in Liverpool, many of whom were brought to social media to share their tribute.

Darwin Nunez was the first of the Liverpool players who posted and shared a photo of him and Jota who celebrate a goal in Anfield.

The Uruguayan wrote: 'There are no words to comfort you for so much pain. I will always remember you with your smile, like a good teammate on and next to the field.

'I send all my strength to your family, where I am sure he will always be with you, especially your wife and three children. Rip Diogo and Andre. '

Luis Diaz added a message to his Instagram story, where Jota held the shirt up with Diaz on the back when the father's father was abducted from the Colombians.

He added a message to his grid and wrote: 'They only say we lose friends if we forget them. I will never forget you, my brother. '

Stefan Bajcetic posted a photo of those who train together on his Instagram story together with the caption: “You will remind me of my friend.”

Jota traveled in a car with his brother Andre, who is also a 26-year-old football player, when the vehicle left the road and the tragic news only two weeks after Jota married his long-term girlfriend Rute Cardoso in Porto.

The band of his Lamborghini, reportedly a £ 150,000 Urus SUV, is said to have been blown out during the catching up of the A-52 in Cernadilla near Zamora in northwestern Spain, close to the border with Portugal.

The Supercar came from the road, then rolled and bursting in flames around 12.35, and also ignited the surrounding vegetation.

The emergency services were called, but the brothers could not be saved.

Liverpool FC said in a statement that the club was 'destroyed' by the tragedy and that the family of Diogo, friends and fans had suffered an 'unimaginable loss'.

Flowers and tribute are placed outside of Anfield today, with many fans in tears.

The death of Diogo and Andre were then confirmed at about 8 hours by the Portuguese football federation.

Jota played for Liverpool when they won the Premier League title in May and also played for the national team of Portugal and it helped to win the Nations League last month.

His brother played Penafiel with the Portuguese club in the lower divisions.

Jota came to Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 and won three major trophies with the Merseyside Club – including the Premier League title last season.

His death has sent shock waves by the club and many, such as Steven, will remember him incredibly lovingly.
