Liverpool quickly emerged as favorites in the race to sign Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace this summer and the Premier League champions can now be able to act
Liverpool is able to arouse their interest in Marc Guehi after a £ 35 million deal to to sell their native defender, Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen.
The Reds have emerged as serious contenders in the race for Guehi's signature with the 24-year-old who is now approaching the last year of his contract in Selhurst Park. But other clubs are also lurking, including Arsenal and Newcastle, who saw substantial bids for the English star rejected last summer.
Earlier this week it was outlined that Liverpool would probably not pursue anything with Guehi until a deal was closed for Quansah.
And after a quick solution for negotiations with Leverkusen about a third transfer between the two clubs this summer, the Premier League champions are now, theoretically, in a position to take their step for Guehi.
Mirror Football revealed on Friday that Crystal Palace is bracing for an approaching approach for their star defender of their domestic rivals.
But it is understood that Liverpool will not be kept on ransom about a prize for Guehi, which was appreciated by the FA Cup holders when Newcastle came to call more than £ 60 million last summer.
The Reds have already spent more than £ 100 million this summer after completing deals for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, who could eventually cost a British record £ 116 million.
And with another £ 40 million swoop for Milos Kerkez, the Bournemouth on the left, it is easy to see why Liverpool will not work for a big money for a player who could be available for free next summer.

It is still to see whether Palace is playing hardball and the risk of losing Guehi for nothing in 12 months, especially with the interest in him.
Van Guehi is said to be the idea of exchanging Selhurst Park to Anfield, but is also willing to see the last year of his contract in South Londs if the move he wishes does not come true in the coming weeks.
Palace is already in discussions about a deal for the highly appreciated defender of Sporting Lisbon, Ousmane Diomande, who in theory would be the replacement of Guehi if he was sold.
