Liverpool splashes some serious money this summer, but they still want to add Adam Wharton their team if the midfielder of Crystal Palace can be seduced to move
Adam Wharton is set up to avoid the interest from elsewhere to stay at Crystal Palace this season – but Liverpool would be in pole position next year to sign the Midfield Maestro.
Wharton, 21, has seamlessly adapted to life in the Premier League since he joined the Eagles from Blackburn Rovers in February. His great versions in a paleishemd have already earned him many admirers and both Liverpool and Tottenham would sign him this summer.
However, the talented midfielder tends to a stay in Selhurst Park for at least 12 months according to a new report.
The Sun says that Wharton is ready to put a blockbuster transfer until next year, since he is happy in Palace, who is in a strong negotiating position, since the player is left for his current contract for another four years.
That would potentially give Liverpool an advantage over their rivals such as Wharton the following summer instead of moving instead, since they have already spent almost £ 200 million in the transfer window.
The report adds that Liverpool has been in line for Wharton for a while and is happy to continue to add him to their team, although they have given priority to reinforcement in other areas.
The Premier League champions are also discussing a deal for Hugo Ekitike, the Eintracht Frankfurt striker, which could be worth a total of € 95 million (£ 82.3 million) if all add-ons are met.
A new wing player may also be necessary if Luis Diaz continues to insist on a move, hence their preference to pursue Wharton after 12 months.
Palace would also hate Wharton to lose this summer in the midst of interest in some of their other top stars.
