Liverpool have £35million Mo Salah replacement who has ‘exploded’ into life already

Jan Molby has tipped Cody Gakpo as the most important candidate to succeed Mohamed Salah in Liverpool, their superstar was allowed to leave this summer.

The Danish ex-midfielder, who turned out to be before the Reds from 1984 to 1996, believes that Gakpo has demonstrated his capacities since he arrived from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 in a deal that costs an initial £ 35 million. Now that the Salah contract is approaching its end and no new conditions have yet been agreed, Molby Gakpo sees as a viable successor.

Speaking with Aceodds, he said: “When Liverpool signed Cody Gakpo, I thought he was a broad attacker and Liverpool had different ideas at the time. Maybe they were looking for a Bobby Firmino replacement.

“Someone who plays in the false nine and links the game. But he is a player who wants to learn and he wants to listen and I think he is now getting his rewards for holding. He plays like a broad attacker on the left and he he Is having a super season.

“He looks a bit like Mohammed Salah as a target threat. He has a good season. He has exploded and shows what he can produce.”

If the Merseyside club is on the market for another dynamic talent, Molby be on Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United as an impressive option and recognizes considerable progress in its versions.

He added: “Anthony Gordon is a great player and look at the improvement of his game. At Everton he was good but inconsistent. He went on Newcastle and did very well. With his pace and working speed, plus consistency would be great .

Salah's potential deviation from Anfield would leave a gaping hole in the Liverpool line-up, given his great versions as one of their most reliable players. The 32-year-old attacker has been downright sensational this season, setting up 25 goals and setting up another 16 in just 27 Premier League matches for the Reds, playing a crucial role in their success.

Liverpool is currently on top of the Premier League table with an 11-point lead on Arsenal, with only 11 games left. Yet the coming summer could see an important overhaul, with Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all approaching the end of their contracts without new similarities in sight, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Van Dijk openly shared his dedication to Liverpool and mentioned continuous personal discussions, despite the absence of a new contract, while Alexander-Arnold is consistently linked to a move to Real Madrid, although his ultimate decision remains under wraps.

In the meantime, Salah has recently made it clear that his priority holds the Premier League title instead of making prints about contract discussions.

Speaking with Premier League productions for the impressive 2-0 victory of Liverpool to Manchester City, he said: “I just feel that my whole focus is now to win the Premier League. It doesn't matter if it is the last match is [against City] Or not the last game, we will see. “

Liverpool now focuses their sights on a midweek collision with Newcastle United in the Premier League with the tone that Anfield visits on Wednesday. This is followed by a trip to Paris to tackle PSG in the first stage of their Champions League round of 16 draw next Wednesday.
