Jan Molby has tipped Cody Gakpo as the most important candidate to succeed Mohamed Salah in Liverpool, their superstar was allowed to leave this summer.
The Danish ex-midfielder, who turned out to be before the Reds from 1984 to 1996, believes that Gakpo has demonstrated his capacities since he arrived from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 in a deal that costs an initial £ 35 million. “Someone who plays in the false nine and links the game. But he is a player who wants to learn and he wants to listen and I think he is now getting his rewards for holding. He plays like a broad attacker on the left and he he Is having a super season.
“He looks a bit like Mohammed Salah as a target threat. He has a good season. He has exploded and shows what he can produce.”
If the Merseyside club is on the market for another dynamic talent, Molby be on Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United as an impressive option and recognizes considerable progress in its versions.
He added: “Anthony Gordon is a great player and look at the improvement of his game. At Everton he was good but inconsistent. He went on Newcastle and did very well. With his pace and working speed, plus consistency would be great .
Salah's potential deviation from Anfield would leave a gaping hole in the Liverpool line-up, given his great versions as one of their most reliable players. The 32-year-old attacker has been downright sensational this season, setting up 25 goals and setting up another 16 in just 27 Premier League matches for the Reds, playing a crucial role in their success.
Liverpool is currently on top of the Premier League table with an 11-point lead on Arsenal, with only 11 games left.
