Liverpool in race against time to complete £126m Florian Wirtz transfer as Bayer Levekusen double-deal targeted

Liverpool is in a race by the time to sign the record of Florian Wirtz's record of £ 126 million before joining Germany.

Bayer Leverkusen-star Wirtz will report tomorrow for international service prior to the semi-final of the Nations League with Portugal next Wednesday.

The attacking midfielder wants to match a deal before he leaves.

Leverkusen rejected Liverpool's opening offer of £ 86 million plus add-ons earlier this week.

They want £ 20 million more in advance, plus clauses to take it up to £ 126 million.

Wirtz, 22, is supposed to have agreed personal conditions for a deal of five years.

Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong flew to the UK on Tuesday for a medical before his own £ 29.6 million move to Anfield.

Frimpong has emerged as the chosen man to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in Anfield.
