Liverpool has told Barcelona that they are not going to sell his Luis Diaz this summer. The Reds have rejected an approach to the Spanish giants for the Colombia wing player.
Diaz, 28, only has two years left on his current contract with the club and this summer is subject to countless links about a move. Saudi Pro League sides Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal are both connected to him, as well as the Spanish giant Barcelona.
But Liverpool is not willing to sell the player and their posture will only change if they receive a huge offer with which they can replace it with a similar or better player. He is an important player among boss Arne Slot and scored 17 goals last season in all competitions when the Reds won the Premier League title.
But there are also no plans to open contract discussions with Diaz with only two years left. Liverpool is ready to maximize his current skills in his peak years instead of selling for under his appreciation only because of his contract situation.
That would mean that they would be willing to let him leave for nothing in two years. The Colombia International has indicated that he would also like to stay.
“I feel that I am going through a really good period,” Diaz told Club Media. “I am really happy to be here, to be part of this great attitude, this great club and to have great teammates around me.
“From the moment I arrived, I felt very proud of. I always tried to work hard for this, and to see that nowadays things work for me with pride and I am really happy because that is what I work for. [But] We are nobodies without our teammates.
