Liverpool legend unrecognisable as he meets ‘starstruck’ darts star Bunting

Darts star Stephen Bunting admitted that he was 'Starstruck' after he had come across a Liverpool legend this week.

The favorite of the 40-year-old fan was in the Dutch city of Rotterdam for Night 11 of Premier League-Darts, while earlier this month he wants to build on an impressive victory in Berlin.

Besides his bravery at the Oche, Bunting is a die-hard liverpool fan who was born in the city before he grew up in nearby St. Helens.

As such, it might not be a surprise that Bunting had been ecstatic to meet one of the heroes of the Champions League-winning side of the club from 2005.

In a message on social media, Bunting shared a photo of himself alongside Jerzy Dudek, after he met the former Poland International while the couple were staying in the same hotel.

He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): 'All the way to Rotterdam and this @LFC legend @jurek_dudek who stays in the same hotel. Not so often I am beaten. '

Almost two decades after that famous night in Istanbul, Dudek's dedication to his former club is clearly to be seen, because the 52-year-old attracted an LFC brand ball.

Dudek arrived for the first time in Anfield in the summer of 2001 when Gerard Houllier looked to strengthen his options between the posts.

Despite the competition from people like Chris Kirkland and Scott Carson, Dudek remained during the Liverpool No 1 campaign during the 2004-05 campaign when Rafa Benitez led the Reds to the Champions League final.

Dudek would make a number of crucial rescues during that fateful collision with AC Milan, including an unlikely double stop in lock phases of extra time to refuse Andriy Shevchenko a winner before he triumphed two more rescues Liverpool.

Despite his heroic deeds in the final, Dudek would play backup for the new Pepe Reina only a few months later and he was unable to struggle the starting place of the Spaniard before he left for Real Madrid in 2007.

Faced with the not enviable position to use Iker Casillas in the Bernabeu, Dudek would mainly serve as a backup during his four years in La Liga before hanging his gloves in 2011.
