Liverpool matchwinner Elliott credits ‘best in the world’ Alisson

Alisson is praised as the world's best keeper by his teammate of Liverpool Harvey Elliott.

The Liverpool shot stopper pulled out a series of excellent rescues to keep Paris Saint-Germain at bay and to free up the road for Elliott to score an 87th minute winner in a 1-0 win for the Reds in the Parc des Princes.

It means that Liverpool will start the second stage at Anfield next week with the upper hand, while the Arne Slot team strives to book their place in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

And although Elliott has been given the crucial goal, the young person believes that Alisson deserves all credit.

“Completely credit to the team, you could see that PSG was a bit tired towards the end and that was due to the working speed of the team.

“They created many opportunities, but thanks to [Alisson] And the defense we did it. It was up to me to give the chance away and luckily it went inside.

“No words [on Alisson’s performance]. This man is incredible. The best in the world. Every game he shows, he keeps us in so many games.

'I had the opportunity to pay back [him]. I don't know where we would be without him. Hopefully he can continue to prevent them from entering and we can continue to end the opportunities. “

Alisson produced striking stops to deny Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele.

He was defeated when Kvaratskhelia curled at home, but a marginal VAR call ruled the goal.

Alisson made a total of nine saves, the most registered (from 2003-04) by a Liverpool goalkeeper in a single Champions League match.

Liverpool only had two shots on PSG's 27-the joint biggest negative difference in shots by a winning team on Record (from 2003-04) in a Champions League knockout phase match.

“It was probably the performance of my life,” said Alisson.

“The manager told us how difficult it would be to play against PSG, how good they are with the ball and that we should be ready to suffer. We knew what would come.

“We have worked hard. We have given away so many opportunities, sometimes one V one, but most of the pursuit is that someone thinks the player a little more with the chance.

“All the efforts that the team made make my work easier. At the end Harvey comes in and the goal scores, it's a great story for us. A great evening.”
