Liverpool news: Arne Slot’s major change revealed as Reds sent warning
Liverpool will be hoping to continue their excellent form when they return to action after the international break.
The Reds currently sit at the top of the Premier League, with a healthy five-point lead over defending champions Manchester City. They also top the new 36-team Champions League competition stage, having won all four of their matches so far.
And new boss Arne Slot will be hopeful his star players will return unscathed from international duty ahead of their upcoming clashes against Southampton, Real Madrid and City. With all that in mind, here's the latest news from Anfield.
The most important change of Slot
Alexis Mac Allister has opened up about life under Slot and insists Liverpool remain in a 'period of transition' despite their excellent start to the season.
“I think we're in that transition period,” Mac Allister explained. “We were used to being very direct and maybe playing more long balls. With the new coach, the idea is very different today. We are working on being more patient, on having longer periods of possession so that the matches are not as are.” end-to-end, so we can dominate them.
“I think that was a bit of the mistake we made in the Premier League game against Nottingham Forest that cost us the game. But like I said, we're in a transition period. Jurgen was here eight years, so It's not that easy to change that playing style, but that's what we're working on, and I think we're doing very well.”
Kelleher warning
Caoimhin Kelleher played for Liverpool as a replacement for Alisson, who has been out of action since last month due to a hamstring injury.
The Brazilian is nearing a return to action and Slot has stated that he will come straight back into the team. However, Slot has been told he would drop a potential world-class goalkeeper in Kelleher to facilitate Alisson's return.
“I think in five or six years he will be one of the best one or two goalkeepers in the world,” former Ireland striker Kevin Doyle told RTE. “He's so good at everything he does. He's got everything. He ticks all the boxes. If he can get himself playing, I think he's going to be the top guy.”
Salah drops contract hint
Mohamed Salah has given a new hint about his future at the club, admitting that “everyone will leave one day”.
Salah, alongside teammates Alisson and Andy Robertson, admitted: “What I value most is the time I go every morning and see the boys and we share incredible moments.
'Especially the three of us plus Virg and Trent, the senior group. Because when Bobby left, for example, you just realized that everyone is going to leave one day. So you… I don't take that for granted.
