Newcastle demands £ 150 million for Alexander Isak, while Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is appreciated at £ 40 million – and Liverpool wants to sign both players this summer
Liverpool is ready to go all the way to a £ 150 million trolley dashboard for the end of the summer window. They have Alexander Isak in their sights and will take a step – if they get some encouragement from Newcastle that a deal can be closed.
Isak is already in strike, has made it clear that he wants to go to Liverpool and now it can just be a case whether Newcastle can sign replacements after a second £ 55 million offered for Wolves Striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
There is also a growing confidence that a deal for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi could still happen for Monday's deadline.
Palace would like to get rid of the play-off of the Europa Conference League on Thursday with Fredrikstad, while they are also looking for defensive reinforcements.
Palace chairman Steve Parish will probably want around £ 40 million, but Guehi will only have a year left and can leave on a free next summer. Liverpool will certainly want to negotiate a lower price.
There is no other serious club for him in this window, but Manchester City would certainly be ready to move if he was available for nothing next year.
Palace leaves that behind with a huge dilemma and, after he had rejected about £ 70 million for Guehi last summer, Parish admitted last week that they might have to sell because they cannot afford to lose him for free.
It will also be a race by time for Liverpool on Isak and every potential deal still stays in the balance, because the Sweden -this week, repeated its position to Newcastle directors. The Newcastle hierarchy had hoped to reach a peace agreement.
Liverpool has rejected one bid of £ 110 million and Newcastle has demanded £ 150 million, but the deal is just as likely to depend on whether Eddie Howe can replace.
Wolves are adamant that they will not sell beach Larsen, while Brentford has rejected a £ 40 million for Yoane Wissa and that is the key to an Isak deal.
Isak, who just since missing the pre-season tour of Newcastle, has not played in one of the two games of two games and he will now probably play for Sweden for Newcastle.
Sweden called him next month for their qualifications from World Cup with Slovenia and Kosovo. Sweden coach Jon Dahl Tomasson said about the call of Isak: “I am very happy that Alexander Isak wants to be in the team, he is a huge player.
“The situation he finds is not perfect and he has not trained with the team. But he is a player who can decide matches and he wants to be part of our team, the World Cup is important for Alexander Isak.”
Captain Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle has also revealed that he did not speak to Isak during the entire Transfersaga. Guimaraes said to ESPN Brazil: “I didn't have contact with him. We trained in the morning and he trains at a different time when no one from the team is around.
“As Captain, and for us players, it is a difficult situation because we want the best players with us. That is something that we cannot control. The club, the management, the owners have to deal with it and I hope it is solved in the best way.
“We really miss our striker, a player who scored more than 20 goals in the Premier League last season, so of course he is someone we feel the absence of. We hope to have our best player back. But unfortunately this is a situation that neither I nor another player can control.”
