Liverpool receive transfer boost in bid to sign €60m La Liga star

Liverpool has been shopping in La Liga in recent years and they were able to do this again in 2025 in their attempt to replace Mohamed Salah, who could leave the club when his contract ends at the end of the season.

Last summer Liverpool desperately came close to the signing of Martin Zubimendi, but after long-term conversations he finally decided against a move to the now Premier competitive leaders, who could now look for one of his real Sociedad teammates.

According to TeamTalk, Liverpool has a long -term interest in Takefusa Kubo, which they consider as their number one option to replace Salah in the event that he will continue this summer.

Kubo has had a rather quiet season for La Real, but he still managed to collect seven goals and four assists in all competitions. He produced one of his best performance of the season on Tuesday, because the Basque side was heartbreaking from the Copa del Rey by Real Madrid.

And that defeat in the semi -final means that La Real is staring down the course of the European qualification for next season, since they are not at the pace in La Liga. And if they miss, the report states that it would increase the opportunities that Kubo is being sold this summer.

La Real is well covered in the case of Liverpool, or another club, which comes in for Kubo, because they have tied it to a long-term contract with a release clause of € 60 million. However, that could be activated this summer, in which case they would be powerless to prevent their Japanese wing player from continuing. But for now that possibility is not considered in the offices in Donostia-San Sebastian.
