Liverpool reportedly agree £79 million deal to sign Frankfurt striker Ekitike

Liverpool has agreed to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike in a deal with a first £ 69 million, according to reports on Monday.

The Premier League champions shifted their focus to Ekitike after the refusal of Newcastle to sell the Swedish striker Alexander Isak, which is appreciated by the Magpies at around £ 150 million.

Newcastle and Manchester United were also interested in Ekitike, but Liverpool look to win the race for one of Europe's most popular young stars.

It is assumed that the Reds have agreed to pay a potential £ 10 million in add-ons to sign the 23-year-old Frenchman, whose total price tag could reach £ 79 million.

Once the transfer is completed, Ekitike will connect to the side of Arne Slot on their pre-season tour through Asia.

Ekitike scored 22 goals in 48 games last season in all competitions for Frankfurt after he had arrived at the Bundesliga club from Paris Saint-Germain.

He was an unused replacement during the preseason on Saturday against FSV Frankfurt, with Eintracht boss Dino Toppmoller's approaching departure admitted “a bitter loss” was.

The Reds are also supposed to be willing to sell Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez, while Colombia Vooruit Luis Diaz has been the target of a rejected bid from Bayern Munich.

Liverpool has already poured out £ 116 million in Germany Playmaker Florian Wirtz, and signed defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez of Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth respectively.

Giorgi Mhamardashvili in Georgia has also linked since the end of last season on the side of Arne Slot after his move from Valencia in 2024.
