Liverpool are set to meet with Federico Chiesa's agent in the coming days, with the winger keen to leave on loan in January.
Chiesa, 27, was signed by the Reds in a bargain from Juventus late in the summer transfer window. But the Italy international has made just four appearances since then and speculation over his future has increased in recent weeks.
Rumors are swirling that Serie A clubs are keen to bring the Euro 2020 winner back to Italy – and it now appears the player himself would be keen to make a temporary move, according to the latest reports from his home country.
Chiesa has no shortage of suitors in Serie A and is trying 'by any means necessary' to leave Liverpool in the January transfer window, according to media reports in his home country. Calciomercato also claims Liverpool are now 'open' to sanctioning a move.
Both Milan clubs, AS Roma and Napoli, have all been touted as potential destinations for Chiesa, along with Atalanta, who are reportedly keen to complete a loan deal that would include the option to buy the former Juventus man outright. It is also explained that the player's agent, Fali Ramadani, will meet with Liverpool management in the coming days to take stock of the situation now that the window is open.
While some fans have questioned Chiesa's lack of minutes this season, Arne Slot has stressed more than once the need for the player to get up to speed physically. However, he also admitted that Chiesa faces strong competition for a place in Liverpool's attack when recently asked about the winger.
“He certainly is [getting stronger],” the Dutchman said last month after Liverpool's 6-3 defeat to Tottenham.
“You see him on the field now, it means he is getting stronger and better. He had to adapt for a long time. I've said it so many times, as expected when you miss team practices for so long. And then you go to a competition where the intensity is so high, and to a team that plays with a lot of intensity.
“He is getting stronger, but he also has a lot of competition in the right-wing position!”
