A Liverpool regular has admitted his days in the Premier League are numbered as he wants to play in Spain one day.
The star spent six years in England and established himself as a starter in Liverpool's first team under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
Alexis Mac Allister joined Liverpool from Brighton in 2023 and appears to be having a wonderful time in the midfield control room, despite LaLiga being tempting. He scored the first goal in the 2–0 Champions League win over Real Madrid and picked up the player of the match award.
He also opened up about his feelings about the contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all three of which are out this summer.
When asked by AS if he ever sees himself in Spain, Mac Allister replied: 'Yes, why not?
'It is a country that I really like and that I have visited several times. It is very similar to Argentina, especially in terms of language and culture. I would definitely love to play in Spain one day.
'But at the moment I feel very comfortable with Liverpool and I'm not thinking about what could happen in the future.'
Considering the Argentine's contract expires in 2028, and he only joined the club in the summer of last year, Mac Allister's future has not been the subject of much discussion.
The same cannot be said of Salah. He is just three goals behind Billy Liddell as Liverpool's fourth top scorer. A modern legend whose uncertain future is the cause of fear among fans.
Salah set off alarm bells when he revealed he was 'more out than in' after seeking out reporters after the 3-2 win over Southampton to share his 'disappointment' at not being offered a new contract.
Liverpool have finally made him a contract offer, although a deal is still a long way off. The conversations are ongoing.
Asked about Salah, Mac Allister said: 'He inspires us enormously, both on and off the pitch. He is an example of hard work and dedication, and he always wants to give the best of himself. He is a very hardworking person who gives everything to play football.
'On the pitch you see it: Salah has the personality to always go for more, and when you have him by your side you know he is a player who will give you assists or score goals. I hope he can continue like this because he is one of the most important players for our team.
'I hope he can stay at Liverpool next year. I want the negotiations to be successful. He seems happy here; he is a legend at the club. It would be ideal if he could finish his career here, but these are very personal decisions and it also depends on the club that makes its analysis or decision.
“I hope Trent and Virgil can stay with us together with Salah. Alexander-Arnold, for example, is fundamental, as seen against Manchester City when he returned from injury. His quality is enormous.
'I have always said he was criticized for his defensive role, but I have no doubt that he can make a difference in both defense and attack. In addition, he is strong and fast, so he knows how to find the balance between attack and defense. Like Salah, he is in negotiations and I hope he can stay with the team.”
