Liverpool may be on track to win the Premier League title, but one of their players may not receive a winner's medal if they do.
It was a huge weekend for the Arne Slot team, which Manchester City defeated 2-0 in the Etihad after Arsenal had a shock 1-0 defeat against West Ham at the Emirates.
The results mean that Liverpool now has a 11 -point lead at the top of the table with 11 games to play, although the Gunners have a game in hand.
No team has never succeeded in lifting the trophy that entails such a substantial lead in this phase of the season and it is difficult to imagine that some of their stars have not yet had any thoughts about the celebrations.
However, one member of the team now has in a precarious position.
The Italian winger Federico Chiesa joined the Juventus club last summer at a £ 12.5 million deal, but has had very little impact since his arrival.
Chiesa, who struggled with fitness problems, has made 10 performances in all competitions with only three of those in the top flight.
And he will have to appear in two more Premier League matches if he automatically wants to receive a winner medal.
The Premier League rules for medals are: 'The champions receive 40 memorial medals made of silver.
'They can be distributed among the manager, players and officials, as the club is needed, as long as every player who has made at least five Premier League performances during the title-winning season.
“Extra medals can only be presented with the permission of the Premier League board, and that is only granted if more than 39 players have made at least five PL performances during the campaign.”
Chiesa is not only in this situation with people like Jayden Danns and Venezslav Jaros who have made this period one Premier League appearance, while Trey Nyoni, Tyler Morton and James McConnell are still waiting for their first piece of action.
