Liverpool state of play after international break – Injury updates, transfer news, tactics

A look at what Liverpool looks like when we enter the last nine games of the Premier League season with a title in their grip, but a big summer in the transfer market

Liverpool returns to Premier League promotion with the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday.

Arne Slot must be on the bit to come back. That's because the international break came after their worst week of the season when they crashed from the Champions League and the Carabao Cup final lost. But they are confronted with Everton on Wednesday looking for a 12 -point lead at the top of the table.

A 20th League title for the record of Equal Manchester United is in sight, so Slot hopes to go back to winning ways and to build the Buzz for a huge celebration in May. They know that five victories of their last nine games will be sufficient if one of those victories is against their nearest challengers Arsenal.

Ryan Gravenberch and Alisson both returned from international service early, but neither is expected to miss Liverpool matches.

The Dutch midfielder Gravenberch was released by his country as a precaution and that will be welcome news for the Reds because their No. 6 began to look tired in recent competitions. Alisson grabbed concussion for Brazil, but the keeper will now be in the training during the weekend to resume training before he can appear against Everton.

Trent Alexander-Arnold took a single injury to the defeat by PSG before the break and although there are no serious problems, it is not expected that he will be ready to view Everton later in April.

That leaves the Reds on the right, while Conor Bradley stays out with a hamstring injury. Joe Gomez is also out with a hamstring problem, while Tyler Morton has a shoulder injury.

The big news in the international break was clear that Trent Alexander-Arnold seemed to be near a move to Real Madrid.

That will intensify the speculation about the Reds that sign a right back in the window. Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong is a player who is linked to Liverpool, but reports of contact between the clubs at the defender are wide of the goal at this stage.

Bournemouth Left-back Milos Kerkez is another player who was loved by Anfield and sports director Richard Hughes will know everything about him, since he previously worked for the Cherries.

Kerkez gave Liverpool -fans further hope that he will move this summer in an interview with athletics. “As a child you dream to play at the highest level, to win the trophies, to be in the best teams,” he said. “In the summer transfer window we will see what is happening.” Hardly a dedication to Bournemouth, that.

The other goals of Liverpool This window can depend on the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah, both of which are from the contract but are still in conversation about new deals.

The future of Darwin Nunez is questioning, so there are ties with Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, to the great annoyance of fans of Newcastle United. A fee would be needed north of £ 100 million to get him from St James' Park. Liverpool has never spent that on a single player. It would be a huge explanation if they did.

Do not expect major changes in spite of their horror week for the international break.

Liverpool looked in that Carabao Cup final, but they only lost once in the Premier League throughout the season. That plays Slot's Way, who has a number of small tweaks on the Jurgen Klopp system. It has worked so far.

As the old saying reads, don't repair it if it doesn't broke. He will just have to find a solution on right back and perhaps the will of Gravenberch and Alexis Macallister rest more in games.

But now, with only the competition to concentrate, rotation will not really be necessary. The focus will be on getting the title as quickly as possible.
