Liverpool target Kvicha Kvaratskhelia green lights immediate transfer after Napoli statement

Antonio Conte has revealed that Napoli talisman Khvicha has demanded Kvaratskhelia to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old superstar from Georgia is one of the most exciting young talents in Europe and has been linked with big clubs from both the Premier League and top leagues further afield since the start of the winter window earlier this month.

Liverpool are known to be avid admirers of Kvaratskhelia, and according to Conte, it now seems likely that he will make a move sooner or later.

The Napoli boss said on Saturday: “[Kvaratskhelia] the club asked to be sold. I'm disappointed. It was a bolt from the blue. I don't want him to think I've chained him up here… We're losing an important player.”

Conte added: “I tried to convince Kvaratskhelia to stay, but he has decided to try a new chapter. The club and his agent will now find the solution… I can't keep Kvara here if he doesn't want to stay.”

News of Kvaratskhelia's desire to move on to pastures new is likely to attract the attention of Liverpool's power brokers, although the player has reportedly all but agreed to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the French champions have yet to agree a deal with Napoli, meaning Kvaratskhelia could be denied his dream move.

Arne Slot remained tight-lipped about a possible move from Kvaratskhelia earlier this week, saying: “When you said you were linked to”, I thought: 'Which club is he going to say next?' But you mean that as a club we are connected to Kvaratskhelia.

“What I make of that is that this is January and I think I said it after the game against West Ham United [to journalists]please don't disappoint me, please come with all these players and all these clubs that are in our interest.

“Or those who don't play much for us go somewhere else. That.” [speculation] is what is happening now. And nine times out of ten or 99 times out of 100, by the end of the window it was clear that almost all of these stories were not true. So what can I say about it? Rumors continue to circulate about it, but there has been no comment from me.”
