Liverpool to play just 1Premier League game in 5-week period after nightmare run

Liverpool will only play one Premier League match in March if their hectic run ends.

The Reds are currently embroiled in a full schedule, with the recovery Merseyside Derby on Wednesday the first of five league matches in the coming weeks. After the trip to Goodison, they go against Wolves at the weekend for collisions with Aston Villa, Manchester City and Newcastle before the end of the month.

But the fixed list of Liverpool will then decrease dramatically in March, because the side of Arne Slot will finally get a much needed delay. Their only Premier League match during the month is a collision with Southampton in Anfield on March 8.

And although there is a lack of Premier League promotion next month, Liverpool still has a number of important luminaires to consider. During 4 or 5 March, the Merseysiders go on the field for the first leg of their Champions League last 16 draw.

The side of Slot will be confronted in that round with one of Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Monaco or Brest. The first legs are away from home with the return bone that takes place in Anfield the next week.

There is then the small issue of the Carabao Cup final in Wembley. Liverpool will go against Newcastle on March 16 with the aim of securing his first piece of silverware since he arrived at Anfield.

After that competition, the international break of March brings an end to the entire club football, which means that the next Liverpool match only in their collision of 2 April with Merseyside Rivals Everton in Anfield.

In the meantime, because of a FA rule that dictates that no Premier League matches can be played in FA Cup weekends, the Reds are not in action during the weekend of March 1. And ex-liverpool star Jamie Carragher believes that their shock output against Plymouth could eventually benefit them in the Premier League title race.

The legendary former defender said about the overlap: “I actually think [Sunday] Was just a great day everywhere. Great for the FA Cup with the Giantkilling, great for Plymouth, and I think it is decent for Liverpool.

“The way I look at it gives Liverpool a better chance of winning the competition, and I think it does a percentage. I think in the FA Cup, certainly the semi -final and the final, you have to move [league games]. Where is it going? Where are they going? “
